(A few minor spoilers ahead, so take note if you haven’t seen it and want a pure viewing experience.)

In the movie, Buy N Large is the (assumingly evil) conglomerate that trashes the entire planet through excessive consumerism, leaving a bunch of WALL•E’s behind to clean up the mess. What a bunch of jerks, huh? But, when the robot WALL•E boots up, the Apple start-up chime is heard. This seems like an odd product placement, since WALL•E is a Buy N Large product — am I supposed to believe he’s an Apple product as well? Is this some sort of threat coming straight from Steve Jobs himself? He does sit on the Disney Board of Directors, after all. Furthermore, all of the incessant and ominous Buy N Large branding seems a little ironic coming from Disney, a company that at one point founded a freaking town.

That said, I really did enjoy the movie. I’m just going to be a little weary if Disney/Apple launches a chain of mini-malls anytime soon.

It’s come to my attention that some people (too many...

It’s come to my attention that some people (too many people) are not aware of the magic of Downy Wrinkle Releaser. I basically live by this stuff, enough so that at about 1:30 AM yesterday I could be found demonstrating it’s power, infomercial style, to a group of captive onlookers. The party may have ended soon after, but my love for Downy will never fade.

Happy birthday, America!

Tomorrow Justin and I will take off on our second annual summer road trip. Thinking about all of the gallons of gas we’ll be consuming makes me cringe but… this is my preferred way to experience American kitsch at it’s finest. Plus, all of those Sonic commercials have brainwashed me and I won’t be satisfied until I drown myself in root beer floats and 99 cent mozzarella sticks. Our goal is to reach Chicago and Milwaukee, so if you have anything to recommend from either of those cities, let me know!

You can of course look forward to pictures and posts along the way.

I don’t know if you can tell, but everyone has a miniature...

I don’t know if you can tell, but everyone has a miniature horse head on their fingers. Best party prop ever!

(Gossip Girl, I’m looking at you.)

America’s Next Top Model is another one I miss, mostly because Tyra banks is absolutely and completely insane. Without fail. To fill that Tyra-sized void in my heart, dear readers, I present this clip from her talk show. Keep watching through, because it only gets better near the end.

I told you guys I would be posting a lot...

Oh hay there, guess what? I’m not sitting in my room feeling the intense boredom of unemployment! Guess where I am.

I’m on a freakin’ BUS.

That’s right. I’m on my way down to NYC to visit a couple friends and not only does the BoltBus have free wifi and outlets at each comfy seat, but the whole thing is only costing me $30 round trip! If I had gotten my tickets earlier it could have been as low as $2. And, since the bus is owned by Grey Hound and not Fung Wah or Lucky Star I feel at least 99% confident that my bus will not spontaneously burst into flames at some point on my journey.

Alright I’m going to go before more people realize that I’m the obnoxious girl blogging about the bus while she’s on the bus.

After my not so good Boston experience yesterday, I wanted to share an excellent one I had later on in the day. I was wandering around Harvard Square trying to find a Bank of America ATM (they’re never too far away) enjoying the sun and families and tourists. I stopped to listen to pair of street performers sing “It’s all Over Now, Baby Blue,” which happens to be one of my favorite songs. As much as I love me some Bobby D, I was starving and needed cash, so I headed down the street to pick up my ATM search. I sad when I turned the corner and the sound of the performers faded completely and I was overtaken by another duo… until I realized they were near the end of the exact same song! They also happened to be camped out right in front of a Bank of America. Wonderful.

They were on a Dylan kick, and one of them looked like John Lennon circa 1980, so I got my cash and stayed to be serenaded by “Just Like a Woman” and “Quinn the Eskimo.”
